Datchet sits just off the M4 in SL3, roughly a 10-minute drive from our base in central Slough. It's a proper village, older than most of the surrounding area, with a mix of Victorian and Edwardian terraces near the High Street, larger detached houses backing onto the Thames, and some 1970s and 80s infill estates on the edges. We get a steady flow of work here, mainly lockouts, cylinder upgrades on older timber doors, and the occasional break-in repair after a targeted attempt.
The village centre around The Green and Slough Road has the oldest housing stock, and a lot of those properties still have original or near-original wooden front doors with mortice locks that are well overdue an upgrade. We come in via the A355 then cut through on Datchet Road, usually straight through without much delay outside of rush hour. The Thames-side roads like Riverside Way attract higher-value properties and we see more multi-point lock installs and security upgrades there. Honestly, the older Victorian doors in this village are some of the least secure we encounter across our whole patch.
Most common Datchet jobs

- Mortice lock replacements on Victorian and Edwardian timber doors throughout the village centre
- Anti-snap cylinder upgrades on 1970s and 80s semi-detached properties on the estate roads off Riding Court Road
- Multi-point locking system repairs on uPVC doors, common on the newer infill developments
- Lock changes after tenant turnovers on the rental properties close to Datchet train station
- Boarding up and temporary security following forced entry, usually on detached Thames-side homes

Datchet FAQ
Yes, and we do this regularly in Datchet. We can fit a quality five-lever mortice lock that meets BS3621 into the existing door, or add a secondary deadbolt if the timber is solid enough. We'll assess it when we arrive and tell you straight what's worth doing.
